Happy Canada Day!

TORONTO, June 30, 2015 /CNW/ - The period of celebration starting from National Aboriginal Day, followed by Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day and Canadian Multiculturalism Day will culminate tomorrow with the festivities surrounding Canada Day,  The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) encourages all Canadians to take the opportunity to embrace the promises that the country's diversity offers each of us.

Albert Lo, Chairperson of the CRRF explains that, "We as Canadians will truly incorporate the promises of diversity when we approach each person based on merit rather than on their race, ethnicity or religious affiliation.  In fact, merit is an integral and inherent part of diversity. While recognizing our differences due to our diverse backgrounds, we should also reinforce the support for core Canadian values that we all share – from equality to civility to mutual respect.

Anita Bromberg, Executive Director of the CRRF added, "Let us take this day of celebration to reflect on how we can reach out to other Canadians using our core Canadian values to unite us, Our recent surveys confirm that dialogue among groups is essential to building understanding and unity.  The Foundation's current programmes and our three-year initiative "Our Canada" are focused on creating such conversations."
