Groundbreak Ventures Launches "Future of Housing Canada Month" to Drive Tech Innovation in Real Estate
TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2026 /CNW/ -- GroundBreak Ventures officially announced the launch of Future Housing Canada Month, a series of events presented in partnership with the DMZ and Building Transformations. The month-long series convenes industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to accelerate the industrialization of housing delivery, unlocking new ways to build more homes, faster, at lower cost and with a smaller environmental footprint.
Running from late October through December 2026, the series of summits, forums and hands-on events explores the technologies and business models changing how homes are designed, financed, built and operated, from prefab, robotics and automation to connected data, digital tools and next-generation retrofits.

Canada and countries around the world face unprecedented challenges in housing supply, affordability, and climate resilience. Our housing needs cannot be met with the same tools, processes and business models that got us here. The series highlights how industrializing housing delivery can unlock new markets, build scalable businesses and generate investor returns, and explores how capital providers, industry and government can work together to accelerate that transformation.
"Building enough homes for Canadians isn't just a construction problem; it is a technology and delivery challenge. Future of Housing Canada Month brings together the key players across Canada's housing ecosystem to accelerate the deployment of modern methods of construction, proptech innovation, and scalable housing models." said Scott Kaplanis, Managing Partner - Groundbreak Ventures.
Key Pillars of Future of Housing Canada Month
Throughout the month, participants can engage with actionable resources, expert-led programming, and collaborative toolkits organized across critical areas:
- Modern Methods of Construction (MMC): Highlighting off-site manufacturing, modular design, robotics, and advanced materials to speed up build times and reduce carbon footprints.
- Proptech & AI Feasibility: Showcasing how artificial intelligence, automated site analysis, and digital permitting can shorten planning cycles.
- Capital & Alternative Financing: Exploring novel home equity solutions, alternative lending models, and civic-private partnerships that unlock capital for affordable and workforce housing.
- Retrofitting & Adaptability: Spotlighting tech solutions for energy retrofits, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and asset repurposing.
National Housing Day is November 22, 2026 where we honour the ongoing efforts of shelters, non-profit housing providers and co-op communities while pressing for long-term policy action.
