Greenpeace at Shell Scotford construction site

FORT SASKATCHEWAN, AB, Oct. 3 /CNW/ - Early this morning, Shell staff became aware that Greenpeace activists had again illegally entered Shell property. In this case, the location is the construction area of our Scotford Upgrader expansion project at Fort Saskatchewan.

Our first concern is for the safety of the activists, the public, and our workers at the Scotford Complex. Due to the weekend timing, no construction is currently taking place.

We reiterate our wish that Greenpeace and all others who have concerns with our activities would talk to us face to face instead of using confrontational and unsafe tactics.

We are working with the RCMP and government authorities are being notified.

Production at the refinery and upgrader are not affected.

Shell is developing an important resource that society needs, and doing it safely, responsibly and in compliance with all laws and regulations.

More information will be shared as it becomes available.
