OTTAWA, Jan. 28, 2018 /CNW/ - The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will visit South Korea from February 7 to 12, 2018.
During the visit, the Governor General will attend the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang and the opening of Canada Olympic House.
Her Excellency will also cheer on Canadian athletes during the first days of the competition as they write another chapter in our country's rich sports history.

- This will be Governor General Julie Payette's first visit to South Korea. The last Governor General to visit South Korea was the Right Honourable David Johnston in 2013.
- The Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 will take place from February 9 to 25, 2018.
- This will be the second time South Korea will welcome the world's greatest athletes, having previously hosted the Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Seoul in 1988.
