The Hudson Village Theatre receives additional funding from the Government of Canada to expand and renovate its facilities
HUDSON, QC, Oct. 8, 2026 /CNW/ -- To ensure the reach our culture and proudly affirm our identity, we need to ensure that cultural organizations are able to make good use of space adapted to creativity, production and presentation of works that bring us together in our two official languages.
That's why Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament (Vaudreuil), proudly announced an additional $630,000 in funding to support the Hudson Village Theatre, on October 3. He made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages.
With this funding, through the Community Spaces Fund of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program, the theatre will be able to begin work to expand and create new spaces, including a multi-purpose room dedicated to community, artistic and cultural activities.
This financial assistance is in addition to the funding already provided through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, which totalled $1,683,046.

Founded in 1993, Village Theatre West, better known as Hudson Village Theatre, is the only professional English-language performing arts organization in Hudson, in the Montérégie region. It presents a variety of theatre, music and comedy performances in English. The organization plays a vital role in serving the region's English-speaking community by also hosting numerous community events.
The Development of Official-Language Communities Program enhances the vitality of Canada's English- and French-speaking minority communities and supports their development.
The Community Spaces Fund provides an opportunity for official language minority communities to build, renovate and modernize multipurpose spaces in which various services and activities will be accessible to them.
The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation projects and the acquisition of specialized equipment related to arts and heritage cultural spaces.
