Government of Canada proud to support BC First Nations economic development and land management conference

VANCOUVER, Dec. 12, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, congratulated the organizers and participants of Links to Learning 2017 being held in British Columbia this week. The annual technical training forum brings together economic development and land management officers from First Nations across the province to network and share expertise on building healthy, thriving communities. 

Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada provided $285,000 for the event in partnership with the Council for Advancement of Native Development Officers and the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association, and a number of other Indigenous organizations.

• The first Links to Learning technical training forum was held in 2013. 200 participants are expected to participate in 29 workshops during this year's forum.
• Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada has provided approximately $3.7 million to BC First Nations and Indigenous organizations in 2017 for lands and economic development capacity building.
