Government of Canada invests in efficiency and safety for passengers with expansion of Fredericton International Airport Français
FREDERICTON, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are investing in modern and efficient air travel infrastructure to support the safe transportation of people and goods, while facilitating trade and economic growth for years to come.
Matt DeCourcey, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Brian Gallant, Premier of New-Brunswick; and Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority, today announced funding for major renovations at the Fredericton International Airport.
The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are each contributing $9 million to this project, through the New Building Canada Fund, Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component – National and Regional Projects (PTIC-NRP). The Fredericton International Airport Authority is contributing the remainder of project costs.
The project consists of the installation of additional ticket counters, a modernized security screening area, larger arrival and waiting areas, and updated heating and cooling systems. The expansion and renovation of Fredericton's International Airport terminal will provide a more efficient and improved travel experience for passengers, while providing capacity for an increased volume of travellers.

- The Government of Canada will invest more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada's rural and northern communities.
- More than $10.1 billion of this funding will support trade and transportation projects, including $5 billion that will be available for investment through the Canada Infrastructure Bank.
- These investments complement the Atlantic Growth Strategy, a 2-year federal-provincial action plan aimed at stimulating economic growth in the region through five priority areas:
