OTTAWA, March 15, 2019 /CNW/ - Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), announced today that Mr. André Hébert will join CMHC's Board of Directors, effective 27 February, 2019 for a 4-year term.
In partnership with communities across the country, CMHC has been instrumental to the design of Canada's first-ever National Housing Strategy, a Government of Canada priority that will benefit hundreds of thousands of Canadian families. CMHC is playing a vital role implementing and delivering the Strategy which is a 10-year, $40-billion plan that will strengthen the middle class, grow the economy and give more Canadians across the country a place to call home.
Mr. Hébert joins CMHC's Board as the company continues to undertake transformative change, including in the area of information technology. CMHC is taking advantage of state-of-the-art technology and establishing best-in-class capabilities so it can focus on activities that benefit our clients.
As Canada's authority on housing, CMHC contributes to the stability of the housing market and financial system, provides support for Canadians in housing need, and offers unbiased housing research and advice to all levels of Canadian government, consumers and the housing industry.
