Golden Predator Appoints Michael O'Brien CFO; Announced as First Sponsor of
Yukon First Nations 2010 Project

VANCOUVER, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - Golden Predator Royalty & Development Corp. (TSX:GPD) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael O'Brien as the Company's Chief Financial Officer.

Michael O'Brien brings more than 25 years of experience to the Company's financial management and regulatory compliance team. Since 2006 Mr. O'Brien served as Chief Financial Officer of Africo Resources Ltd. a TSX-Listed mineral exploration and development company with operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Prior to this Mr. O'Brien served as Chief Financial Officer of Irvin & Johnson Ltd., an international fishing and seafood processing company, and as Manager of Finance of Soekor Exploration and Production (Pty) Ltd. (now part of PetroSA,). Mr. O'Brien qualified as a Chartered accountant in South Africa in 1986, and has been a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1991.

Yukon First Nations 2010 Project Sponsorship

The Company is also pleased to announce it has been named as the first corporate sponsor of the Yukon First Nations 2010 Project. The Project is intended to develop and deliver a world class program that will showcase and celebrate the Yukon's diverse and distinctive First Nations people and culture on the world stage and maximize the economic, social and cultural opportunities presented by venues including the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Project also includes a legacy component to continue to develop opportunities following the 2010 Games.

The Company announces the resignations of Art Ettlinger as Vice-President, and Gary Arca as CFO, both of whom are leaving the Company to focus their attention on their other business interests. We thank both Dr. Ettlinger and Mr. Arca for their dedicated service and contributions to the Company.
