Global Learning Giving Initiative (GLGI) responds to CRA's latest attack on tax shelters
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - This week the Canada Revenue Agency announced that it will put on hold the assessment of returns for individuals claiming a credit for a gift from charities participating in a tax shelter program.
The Global Learning Gifting Initiative (GLGI) and its legal counsel consider this to be an improper, and possibly illegal, use of CRA's assessing practices. GLGI has sponsored an action in the Federal Court of Canada challenging this CRA practice, and a court date for the trial of this matter is expected shortly.
GLGI is a registered tax shelter that raises funds for various charities while providing legal tax incentives for donors.
