("Global Express"), a TIO Networks company, has partnered with the District of Columbia Housing Authority to provide its residents with new and more convenient ways to pay rent at over 100 nearby retail locations.

"Residents will now have access to the Global Express network where their rent can be paid in cash," said Lyle Wolinksy, vice president of marketing and sales at Global Express. "They will also have the added convenience of doing so at Global Express and ACE check cashing locations in D.C. and Shoppers Food and Pharmacy stores in nearby Maryland, where they will receive a paper receipt, which wasn't possible with mail-in payments. Cash payments at Global Express locations will also generate an electronic record of the transaction, an important upgrade to the Housing Authority's previous rent payment system."

The added benefit for the D.C. Housing Authority is the capability to electronically account for cash payments, which are now credited the same day to the rent roll. In addition, payments via Global Express will reduce the labor required to handle payments. From an accounting perspective, this new technology brings much needed improvements and control to the entire process.
