Global action for Iran: Solidarity with Iranian Students

MONTREAL, Dec. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - 16th of Azar, or Student Day in Iran is the anniversary of the crackdown of Iranian police on Tehran University students on Dec 6, 1953. This day has become the symbol of students' resistance to dictatorship in Iran. This year's commemoration of this event is especially significant in light of the recent post-election protests and the brutal crackdown by the Islamic regime on Iranian students.

Student Day events have been organized globally this year and will take place on December 7, 2009. In Montreal, the event will take place from 12:00 to 13:00 at McGill's Roddick gates. We will join hands to remember the imprisonment, torture and murder of Iranian students in their quest for human rights and democracy, and to show support for the movement in Iran today which is fighting for these very goals.
