GFL Confirms Consumer Curbside Pickup Services will not be Interrupted
TORONTO, May 25, 2017 /CNW/ - GFL is confirming that no one was injured in this morning's fire at the company's Cherry Street facility. GFL is working with fire services and appreciative of the efforts being made to contain the fire at 242 Cherry Street.
The facility houses a solid waste transfer station and a material recovery facility which handles the separation of recycled materials. There is no hazardous waste on site and GFL is working with the Ministry of the Environment. GFL will be working with Toronto City Fire Department officials to determine the cause of the fire.
There will be no interruption of service to curbside services for city residents. Commercial and industrial collection today may be delayed but we anticipate will be back on schedule tonight and tomorrow. Waste and recyclable materials normally delivered to Cherry Street will be diverted to other GFL facilities across the GTA.
