G7 national aluminium associations, government officials and industry leaders to discuss Global Aluminium Forum to tackle overcapacity during Montreal Aluminium Summit Français
MONTREAL, May 29, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The national aluminium associations' leaders from Canada, the United States, Europe and Japan will hold an exceptional meeting of the aluminium industry from the G7 member countries on June 3rd and 4th in Montreal. Medias are cordially invited to attend.
The global aluminium industry is facing great challenges given the current market conditions, and it is vital for the industry to initiate a top level process addressing overcapacity through policy changes by multilateral international institutions such as G7, G20 and the OECD.
Bringing together the aluminium industry from the G7 countries, the Summit will help define a governmental/multilateral institutional policy driven roadmap to address overcapacity, as well as governmental/multilateral institutional policies affecting the global aluminium industry. While addressing these long-term systemic and structural challenges to free and fair trade, the roadmap aims to cover both primary and semi-fabricated products and will be handed over to the G7 and G20 organizations in order to bring about the setting up of a Global Forum on Aluminium Overcapacity.
This is an important undertaking by the aluminium industry, in the context of the G7 summit held days later in Charlevoix, Québec, Canada.
The event will take place, with the active participation of the Canadian and Quebec governments, representatives of G7 governments and the CEOs of the world industry leading companies from Canada, USA and Europe, at the Sofitel Hotel in Montreal on June 3-4, 2018.
