FWS Group Reaches Workplace Health and Safety Milestone
One Million Man-Hours Without A Lost Time Injury
WINNIPEG, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - FWS Group of Companies, one of Western Canada's leading construction companies, is pleased to announce it has recently surpassed 1 million person hours without a single lost time injury.
Based in Winnipeg, the FWS Group of Companies is a multi-faceted design build construction company, specializing in construction services across Canada for the agriculture, industrial processing, mining, commercial real estate, and seniors housing sectors.
"We are exceptionally proud of this achievement, as it reflects our commitment to the safety of our employees and preventing any lost time for our clients," said Rick Chale, President and CEO of FWS Group of Companies. "This milestone is remarkable given the many challenging, rigorous industrial and commercial job sites we work on, which can be very hazardous and have the potential for accidents," Chale said.
Chale also noted that this accomplishment is the result of the company's dedicated and evolving workplace health and safety program. In 2003 the company implemented a revamped health and safety program, making all employees accountable for safety on the job site. "Our workplace safety program was a multi-faceted approach that involved creating a dedicated Safety Department, designating site safety specialists, specialized safety training, plus ongoing review of safety procedures and policies" Chale said.
Chale added that FWS' commitment to safety ensures our client's projects have not resulted in any work stoppages from construction job site accidents, which he noted can lead to significant costs and delays.
Sean Scott, Executive Director of the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba, had high praise for the FWS Group of Companies. "On behalf of our association, I want to extend our congratulations to the FWS Group of Companies for this very significant milestone," Scott said. "This accomplishment is a major achievement, as it is rare for a construction company to surpass one million person hours of work without any lost time due to accidents."
The association is a member of the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations and works closely with the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba and the Workplace Safety & Health Branch, to promote safe work practices and procedures throughout the construction industry.
FWS Group of Companies (fwsgroup.com) specializes in the design and construction of inland grain terminals, industrial process facilities, above ground mining infrastructure (including headframes), malt plants and feed mills, industrial warehouses, seniors' housing, office buildings, shopping centers, restaurants, institutional facilities, real estate development and environmental projects. FWS has over 300 employees and completes construction projects valued in excess of $250 million annually.
