Furious Winter Drives Demand for Fleet Support Tools
WINNIPEG, May 27, 2014 /CNW/ - The 2013 - 2014 Winter saw commercial fleet search activity set record levels month after month as drivers and equipment succumbed to record breaking everything. Record snow, cold, storms…, it was a winter to take seriously.
Demand for the vendor location and management services provided by TruckDown.com were also put to the test. "Our system easily dealt with a surge in demand that exceeded anything we had ever experienced in our 17 year history", said Peter Gordon, Vice-President, IT. "We typically over-build our IT infrastructure and this winter it really paid off for the fleets that depend on us."
Nasty winter or not, TruckDown also expanded its service. As of January 26th, 2014 fleet users benefitted from enhanced vendor ratings that automatically build a fleet's preferred vendor network. Repair order tracking was also added as a convenient way for fleets to keep track of what a vendor quoted compared to actual costs. For large fleets and software developers an API solution was added to allow authorized companies to integrate the full functionality of TruckDown within their internal dispatch and maintenance systems.
Repair, Towing and related transportation industry vendors were provided with new tools including a report which tracks the estimated number of calls a vendor receives each month in response to their presence in the TruckDown network. Vendors can also manage their listings on line or reach out to TruckDown staff for assistance as needed. The same is true for fleet users that need assistance.
