<p><location>SUNNYVALE</location>, Calif., <chron>Jan. 6</chron> /CNW/ -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will demonstrate the interoperability of its USB 3.0-SATA Bridge IC for PC peripherals at the USB TechZone #30769 during CES <location>Las Vegas</location> 2010, January 7-10.</p>

<p>Fujitsu will feature its MB86C30 USB 3.0-SATA Bridge IC embedded in multiple hard disk drives (HDDs), and showcase the high-speed functionality of USB 3.0 technology. USB 3.0 will be available in various consumer products in 2010. Introduced last July, (see <chron>July 27, 2009</chron> press release:  <a href="http://www.fujitsu.com/us/news/pr/fma_20090727.html">http://www.fujitsu.com/us/news/pr/fma_20090727.html</a>), the MB86C30 has passed compliance and certification testing from the USB Implementers Forum (<a href="http://www.usb.org/press/ces2010presskit/SuperSpeed_USB_Consumer_Cert_FINAL_2_">http://www.usb.org/press/ces2010presskit/SuperSpeed_USB_Consumer_Cert_FINAL_2_</a>. pdf). <p>"We will demonstrate interoperability between various USB 3.0 host chips and HDDs with an embedded Fujitsu MB86C30 IC," said Davy Yoshida, director of business development of the Embedded Platform Solutions business group of Fujitsu Microelectronics America. "The Fujitsu device has been designed to be versatile and flexible, to accommodate the requirements of a broad variety of systems. Our exhibit will demonstrate those capabilities."</p>

<p>The Fujitsu USB 3.0-SATA IC integrates SATA, USB links, PHYs, a high-performance 32-bit RISC processor, a hardwired encryption block, SRAM, and common interfaces to communicate and respond to requests from the USB host. In addition to low power consumption and high-speed encryption hardware, the MB86C30 supports both GPIO for design flexibility and SPI for interfacing to off-chip serial Flash ROM.</p>
