SAINT-ANTOINE-DE-TILLY, QC, Sept. 15, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Fromagerie Bergeron is pleased to announce that its latest creation has again been singled out among the top cheeses in this year's 18th edition of the Sélection Caseus competition.
Its Louis Cyr has earned the Bronze Caseus, awarded to a competitor chosen from among the winners of each category.
More than 182 cheeses from 40 cheesemakers competed in the 2016 Sélection Caseus competition. The award ceremony was held Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
For a number of years, the Fromagerie Bergeron team has sought to create a Strong Gouda. After a series of trials and errors and lots of hard work, they succeeded. In 2015 their Louis Cyr was awarded a Silver Caseus. Its ranking again this year among Quebec's top three cheeses confirms its solid reputation. The milk that goes into it is still culled from Fromagerie Bergeron's highly select partner farms. Bergeron adheres to strict manufacturing standards, doing its utmost to meet its clients' expectations. The results speak for themselves: Louis Cyr has been ranked among Quebec's top cheeses for two consecutive years. Being selected from among the finest cheeses, including new arrivals, is a source of pride for the company. With this new distinction, Fromagerie Bergeron reiterates its promise to produce superior quality cheeses.
Brothers Mario and Roger Bergeron and the company staff are very proud of these honors, which spotlight Fromagerie Bergeron's talent for producing large volumes of artisanal-quality cheeses.
In 2015 Louis Cyr also took first place in the Dutch-style cheese category (Gouda, Edam, etc.) at the 32nd annual American Cheese Society competition held in Providence, Rhode Island.
