Move enables law firm to reduce number of devices by up to 50 per cent
TORONTO, Nov. 10 /CNW/ - Q9 Networks Inc. (Q9) today announced that it has been selected by Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC) to provide a comprehensive data centre outsourcing solution. The solution will allow the national law firm to consolidate critical IT assets from six offices across Canada into one Q9 data centre, beginning with its Calgary, Alberta office.
Under the terms of the agreement, Q9 is providing FMC with secure and redundant physical infrastructure in one of its high-security data centres, as well as managed bandwidth and 7x24 monitoring, to ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability for all of its IT systems.
By co-locating in a Q9 data centre, FMC will be able to free up expensive real estate that was previously used to house IT equipment and reduce the number of devices needed to support its 1,400 staff, including 500 lawyers, by up to 50 per cent.
"We're moving from a highly distributed IT department model to a national shared services group which has far better economies of scale," said Scott Saundry, Chief Technology Officer, FMC. "After conducting a thorough RFP process, we determined that Q9 is in a class by itself when it comes to its single focus, rigorous procedures and the quality of its facilities. Q9 makes it possible for us to move to a centralized, high-security, high performance facility that can meet our needs for the foreseeable future at a reduced cost."
"We are delighted to have been selected by FMC, a pre-eminent Canadian law firm that can trace its roots back more than 170 years," said Q9 Chief Executive Officer, Osama Arafat. "One of the keys to longevity is being able to change with the times and by outsourcing to Q9, FMC demonstrates that it is a forward-thinking organization. It clearly understands the value proposition of outsourcing IT infrastructure in order to focus on its core business."
Q9 designs, builds and operates its data centres to meet the most demanding IT infrastructure requirements, including the increased power and cooling demands of today's high density computing devices.
Customers connect to the Internet via Q9's unique network and are protected by Q9's 100 per cent, SLA-backed uptime guarantees on both power and network availability. Customer equipment and data centre environmental parameters are monitored 7x24 by Q9's Control Centre, staffed by experts versed in all aspects of IT and facilities management.
