FPX Nickel Renews Commitment to UN Global Compact Demonstrating Industry Leadership in Sustainable and Responsible Project Development

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 17, 2026 /CNW/ -- FPX Nickel Corp. (TSXV: FPX) (OTCQX: FPOCF) ("FPX" or the "Company") is pleased to announce our renewed commitment to the United Nations Global Compact ("UNGC") and filing of our inaugural UNGC Communications on Progress report. Further, the Company's previously announced sustainability initiatives (see the Company's August 21, 2025 news release) including the Mining Association of Canada's ("MAC") Towards Sustainable Mining program and the ECOLOGO® Certification have been expanded to support FPX's generative exploration activities, including at our new Advocate Property in Newfoundland. These initiatives build on the commitments outlined in FPX's inaugural Sustainability Report and support the Company's approach to responsible and sustainable project development.

Commitment to the United Nations Global Compact

In 2025, FPX committed to the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative. As part of this commitment, FPX recently submitted its inaugural annual disclosure on Communications on Progress ("CoP"), a requirement for UNGC participants. The CoP outlines the Company's approach to advancing the UNGC's Ten Principles across the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. Key focus areas for FPX, determined through community engagement and noted in our disclosure, include governance, human rights & labour rights, and the environment, specifically climate change, water and biodiversity.

This commitment builds on the Company's ongoing efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ("SDGs") and reinforces our pledge to conducting business in a manner consistent with internationally-recognized principles of responsible and sustainable development.

ECOLOGO® Certification for Mineral Exploration

FPX received ECOLOGO® Certification in 2025, becoming the first company with a British Columbia Exploration Property to achieve this certification. ECOLOGO® is a third-party certification program for mineral exploration that evaluates performance against defined exploration criteria, including environmental impact, safety, community well-being, ethical business practices, legal compliance and efficient use of resources. FPX has embedded the ECOLOGO® standards across the Company, including our generative exploration projects in Newfoundland and British Columbia. Maintaining this certification reflects FPX's commitment to responsible exploration practices and continuous improvement across our activities.

Membership in the Mining Association of Canada

FPX has been an active member of the Mining Association of Canada ("MAC") since it joined in 2025. MAC is a national organization recognized for its leadership in advancing sustainability in the mining sector. Through its membership, FPX has aligned its exploration activities with the Towards Sustainable Mining ("TSM") Exploration Protocol, a globally recognized framework providing guidance on responsible environmental practices, community engagement, safety, and ethical conduct during project development. This alignment represents a significant milestone for the Company as it continues generative exploration activities and progresses the Baptiste Nickel Project through advanced exploration and the environmental assessment regulatory process.

A Continued Focus on Responsible Development

These initiatives, coupled with our previously announced commitment to the Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management ("GISTM") demonstrate FPX's continued focus on responsible exploration and project development and our proactive approach to applying recognized industry-leading standards and frameworks, as outlined in the Company's inaugural Sustainability Report (available at https://fpxnickel.com/corporate/sustainability). About the Baptiste Nickel Project

The Company's Baptiste Nickel Project represents a large-scale greenfield discovery of nickel mineralization in the form of a sulphur-free, nickel-iron mineral called awaruite (Ni₃Fe) hosted in an ultramafic/ophiolite complex. The absence of sulphur and our ability to connect to the BC Hydro grid means that Baptiste has the potential to be one of the lowest carbon-intensive nickel producers in the world and will produce a very high-grade product that does not require any intermediate smelting or complex refining. The Baptiste mineral claims cover an area of 453 km² west of Middle River and north of Trembleur Lake, in central British Columbia. In addition to the Baptiste Deposit itself, awaruite mineralization has been confirmed through drilling at several target areas within the same claims package, most notably at the Van Target which is located 6 km to the north of the Baptiste Deposit. Since 2010, approximately US$55 million has been spent on the exploration and development of Baptiste.

In 2024, the Province of British Columbia identified the Baptiste Nickel Project as the first project to be included in the Province's new Critical Minerals Office ("CMO") concierge service initiative, a provincial strategy action to enable the prioritization of critical minerals projects in B.C. The CMO initiative has provided an excellent structure to proactively identify and address issues and opportunities in support of the Project's entry into the environmental assessment process.

In 2026, the Baptiste Nickel Project was named as a major priority project by the Government of British Columbia. This recognition comes as part of the development of B.C.'s Look West economic strategy, a targeted plan designed to deliver major projects and strengthen B.C. and Canada's economic security. One of the key pillars of the Look West strategy is to accelerate major job-creating projects by speeding up and streamlining permitting, reducing barriers and delays, and removing duplication across regulatory frameworks.
