Third-generation Canadian family business honours its legacy while building a platform for what's next in mobility
TORONTO, Oct. 6, 2026 /CNW/ -- After more than six decades of growing alongside Canada's automotive industry, a leading name announced today the launch of Foss Group of Companies, bringing its expanding portfolio of automotive retail, fleet management, mobility, and real estate businesses together under one organization.
Founded in 1962 as a single-point General Motors dealership in North Toronto, the family-owned company now operates three dealerships in the Greater Toronto Area, manages 50,000 vehicles nationally, and holds a growing portfolio of investments in mobility, technology, and real estate.
Foss Group of Companies comprises four divisions:
- Roy Foss -- three GTA dealerships, with a multi-year run as Canada's #1 volume Cadillac store. Three-time Automotive News Best Dealership to Work For.
- Foss National Leasing -- Canada's largest independently owned fleet management company. With offices in Toronto, Laval, Calgary, and Vancouver, Foss National Leasing manages over 50,000 vehicles nationwide through leasing, fleet services, mobility solutions, technology and data.
- Foss Ventures -- investing at the frontier of automotive, fleet and mobility technology.
- Foss Real Estate -- strategic real estate holdings, property management and development.
Each division stands on its own, but together they cover every stage of the vehicle lifecycle --access, funding, ownership, and resale. Foss National Leasing brings national scale with a large fleet portfolio, leading technology and solutions for Canadian companies and a Canada-wide partner network. Roy Foss brings more than six decades of automotive retail experience and longstanding automaker relationships in Ontario. Foss Ventures extends that expertise into emerging mobility and technology, while Foss Real Estate supports the physical footprint behind the businesses. Together, they give Foss a platform to identify, invest in and build opportunities across the changing mobility landscape.
"Foss Group of Companies honours the business my grandfather, Roy Foss, founded in 1962 and my mother, Karen Foss, carried into a new era," said James Ricci, CEO, Foss Group of Companies. "Automotive retail and fleet management remain core to who we are and where we're going. What's new is how we work together -- and what that unlocks. This name reflects what we've already built."
The launch comes at a pivotal time for Canada's automotive sector. Tariffs and trade uncertainty, shifting global supply chains, the transition to electric vehicles, and emerging mobility models are reshaping how Canadians buy, use, and manage vehicles.
"We didn't arrive here overnight, and we're not finished," Ricci said. "Foss Group of Companies names what we've built and the platform for what comes next -- more rooftops, a larger national fleet, and investment in emerging businesses and technology that moves people and goods."
In 2027, the company will celebrate 65 years in business.
