TORONTO, May 29, 2014 /CNW/ - The Mark Studios announced today that Les Hinton, former Publisher of The Wall Street Journal, has joined its advisory board.
Mr. Hinton, who was also CEO of Dow Jones and Chairman of Fox Television Stations, will advise The Mark Studios as it expands in the United States and Europe.
"Les brings extraordinary expertise on the business of publishing, and on the needs of advertisers, who are starting to bypass publishers in favor of producing programming to attract audiences to their owned properties," said The Mark founder and CEO Jeff Anders.
The Mark Studios custom produces non-ad programming in multimedia formats for brands to publish on their own websites and other channels.
As the cost of content production continues to decline, and social media advertising makes it increasingly cost effective to drive large audiences into web pages on demand, more and more companies are commissioning their own content to drive measurable business results from their websites and other channels.
"The Mark is leading the way on an emergent trend in publishing: brands are increasingly creating video and other programming to attract, engage and retain clients. This is the very beginning of this trend and I see enormous potential for The Mark's brand of intelligent, interactive, high-production value content," said Mr. Hinton.
