MONTREAL, Nov. 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Fordia, a leading manufacturer in the diamond-drilling industry, received the Grand Prix québécois de la qualité for its management and overall performance at the Awards Ceremony for the Grand Prix québécois de la qualité, organized by the Quebec Society for Quality (QSQ). The Grand Prix is the QSQ's highest distinction, and it was presented personally by Pauline Marois, the Premier of Québec, during a gala luncheon at the Montreal Convention Centre on November 8.
The President of Fordia, Luc Paquet, accompanied by Denis Landry, Executive Vice President and General Director, accepted the award on behalf of the company. "I am extremely proud of the accomplishments of our employees since the company's founding in 1977" stated Mr. Paquet. "Thanks to the combined efforts of all our departments, we have achieved new heights in terms of our performance. We are very honoured to be receiving this most prestigious award for the second time in our history."
Fordia in fact received a Grand Prix québécois de la qualité in 2003, as an SMB, and has now received the same award, this time as a large business. This is the first time that the QSQ has given an award to the same company in two different categories.
According to the QSQ, Fordia's teamwork and good business practices are what set it apart and make it one of the best businesses in Quebec. Its brand and the quality of its products are increasingly recognized throughout the world. This year, moreover, the company opened offices in Colombia and South Africa, as well as distribution outlets in China and Mongolia.
In accepting the award, Mr. Paquet called on the Quebec government to "provide more incentives for SMBs, large manufacturers and the resource industries, which are the lifeblood of our economy". Directing his remarks at Premier Marois, he stressed that manufacturers create wealth for the province and it is therefore important that they be given access to its resources.
A world leader in its field, Fordia offers its clients global drilling solutions through its complete line of diamond tools, equipment and accessories designed for the mineral exploration and geotechnical industries, as well as unequalled technical support. With some 300 employees in Canada and around the world, Fordia has offices on every continent and representatives in more than 35 countries.
