Financing for production ramp-up in 1H 2014
LUND, Sweden, Jan. 7, 2014 /CNW/ - FlatFrog Laboratories AB, a leading provider of multi-touch systems, announced today that it has closed a $10 million funding round with existing investors Invus, Sunstone Capital and Intel Capital. FlatFrog intends to use the funds to accelerate the commercialization of its multi-touch technology for PC applications and expand its presence in Asia in 1H 2014.
"We are seeing very strong reception to our FlatFrog in-glass optical touch product from consumer PC OEMs and other large screen size format players. The fact that our existing investors fully subscribed this round reaffirms the confidence in this technology and progress made by FlatFrog," said Dhwani Vyas, CEO of FlatFrog. "I welcome the continued support from our investors, and look forward to successful commercialization of this technology."
A range of high volume consumer PC products can be enabled with FlatFrog Touch including Notebooks, Tablets, All-in-One PCs and Monitors in display sizes 10" - 30". FlatFrog Touch is certified for Windows 8.1 and offers a premium touch experience supporting over 40 simultaneous touches at a lower cost than the leading projected capacitive touch technology. Unlike projected capacitive touch, there is no sensor grid (ITO layer) obstructing the viewing experience of the LCD screen. This ensures a superior viewing experience with maximum transparency and no image quality degradation.
Additionally FlatFrog Touch natively supports pressure sensing with over 10-bit resolution. FlatFrog Touch enables pressure sensitive drawing and writing without the need for an active stylus (see demo video), as well as new application gestures for music, gaming and smart user interfaces.
