Federal government invests in active transportation and accessibility improvements in Alberton
FrançaisTOWN OF ALBERTON, PE, Oct. 13, 2026 /CNW/ -- Residents in Alberton will soon welcome a new active transportation trail after an investment of more than $250,000 from the federal government.
This was announced by Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont; and His Worship, Hector MacLeod, Mayor of Alberton.
The project involves the construction of an approximately 680-meters-long and 2.5-meter-wide active transportation trail along one side of a new street that will provide access to a new subdivision with 20 residential lots, a large commercial lot, and a future sports complex building with a soccer field.
The active transportation trail is designed to accommodate pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized users, and will offer added comfort and safety. The installation of a curb and gutter will facilitate effective drainage and will serve as a physical barrier between the street and the trail, to ensure better safety for users by preventing vehicles from encroaching onto the trail. In addition, crosswalks will be constructed for the safety and convenience of all users.
