TORONTO, May 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Monday May 25 is the first day of Bike Month, and also of BIKE TO SCHOOL WEEK. Over 130 schools have registered events for the week, the inaugural joint campaign involving schools across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Iwona Kurman is principal of Central Toronto Academy. On Monday May 25, 8-9am, she'll be at Nathan Phillips Square for the annual Pancake Breakfast which launches Bike Month. "This is our fourth year participating as a school community and it's amazing to see the growing momentum," she says.
To celebrate, CTA will host a school-wide assembly later this week. "Fun, fast, healthy and free – these are benefits of cycling identified by our students," says Ms. Kurman. "At CTA we help them learn to bike responsibly as a life skill, and we want to share our experience with others."
Bike to School Week is supported by Smart Commute, a program of Metrolinx, in conjunction with partners across the GTHA. For more information visit http://biketoschoolweek.ca.
