TORONTO, Dec. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada's biggest New Year's Eve bash just got bigger with five of the world's most recognizable brands partnering with ET Canada to bring viewers closer to the action. The celebration is taken to the next level as Special K*, Las Vegas, Hershey's Kisses, Fitbit® and Rdio™ each nab a coveted spot to sponsor the annual event. The two and a half hour broadcast hosted by Cheryl Hickey, Rick Campanelli and Sangita Patel kicks-off December 31 at 10pm (local time) on Global airing simultaneously on Showcase and Slice™.
"ET Canada's New Year's Eve show presents endless opportunities for incorporating engaging integrations throughout the live show, and we are thrilled to have these reputable brands partner with Global TV in the festivities," said Errol Da-Ré, Senior Vice President, Sales for Shaw Media. "Being one of the most memorable nights of the year, the in-show executions will leave a lasting impression on ET Canada's loyal audience."
This year, ET Canada is producing more live sponsored content than ever before between the five sponsorship activations to enhance the viewing and online experience.
The program sponsor, Special K, will execute multiple interactive initiatives to excite fans both on and off-air. At the centre of the excitement is the Special K VIP Zone near the main stage, where 250 special guests will be treated to hot beverages, a warming station and delicious Special K snacks. All attendees are also encouraged to drop by the Special K #2015Revolution Social Media photo booth to get in on the fun. For on-site access to the Special K VIP Zone, viewers can follow @etcanada on Twitter for details. On-air elements of the program sponsorship include a sponsored countdown clock to ring in the New Year, Twitter ticker where viewers will have the chance to read their #ETCanadaNYE messages live on-air, and sponsored New Year's Eve messages from celebrities. Digitally, Special K brings fans a "Year in Review" highlighting the Star of the Year battle and a countdown of the top entertainment stories of 2014 as featured on etcanada.com.
Kicking off ET Canada's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls show is the launch of a contest to win a trip for two to Las Vegas. Swept away to one of the most exciting destinations in the world, the winner will receive the full VIP treatment including accommodations, spending cash and tickets to the Rock in Rio Festival in May. For a chance to win, viewers can enter beginning on December 31 by visiting etcanada.com/vegas for full contest details.
New Year's Eve just got sweeter with the Hershey's Kisses Kiss Cam that will scan the crowd to put a spotlight on partygoers celebrating the night with a kiss. Images of couples will appear on the jumbo screens at the event and live on-air during the broadcast.
Fitbit is helping ET Canada's hosts put their best foot forward as they step into 2015, outfitting them with the new Fitbit Charge™, a high-performance wristband that delivers all-day activity tracking, real-time fitness stats and Caller ID right on the wrist for people who want to step up their everyday activities to improve their overall health. As the hosts tackle their jam packed New Year's Eve schedule, cameras will periodically check in with one of the hosts to track their activity levels, and report their progress to viewers throughout the big night.
The official streaming music partner of ET Canada's New Year's Eve bash, specially themed playlists will be available on rdio.com where subscribers can find the best party music to get pumped for the big night. Leading up to the show, Rdio will bring viewers live cut-ins during the evening as ET Canada prepares for the show. Following the broadcast, viewers will find a concert playlist complete with all of the song titles performed during the live event on rdio.com.
Last year the two and a half hour broadcast garnered a total of 1.3 million viewers (2+, national) with an increase of 526,000 more viewers over the previous year. At midnight viewership spiked to over 3.4 million (2+, national) Canadians tuning in to ET Canada, which is a 67% increase over last year and more than any other show in Canada.
