TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The results of the first epost School Program are in with nearly 2,000 votes cast by Region of Waterloo residents. Sixteen local schools won SMART Board interactive whiteboards and other digital teaching tools.
"We want to thank the residents of Kitchener-Waterloo who helped local schools get the tools they need for innovation and learning," says Kerry Munro, Group President of the Digital Delivery Network at Canada Post. "Just like Canada Post is adapting to a digital future with services like epost, classrooms will continue to embrace technology in order to help students stay competitive in the digital economy."
Subscribers of two or more bills on epost in the Region of Waterloo voted for local schools in the area. Each additional bill that was registered on epost earned the subscriber another vote. A total of 124 schools participated in the epost School Program. Here is a look at the winners:

Canada Post would like to congratulate all the winners, but particularly the top three schools that garnered the most votes: Lester B. Pearson, elementary school, came in first place and Forest Heights C.I. and Sir John A. Macdonald, secondary schools, tied in second place. The digital teaching tools supplied to these and other schools will help make learning more interactive and help accelerate students' digital aptitude.
Canada Post chose Kitchener-Waterloo - a centre for technology and innovation - to launch the epost School Program and new updates to epost. Changes to epost include better design and navigation, improved organizational tools and an added level of security through digital authentication. A first in Canada, the new epost platform connects a user's digital identity with his or her physical address.
