Engineer Louise Audy from La Mauricie receives the President's Volunteer Service Award of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec

MONTREAL, Dec. 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Louise Audy, Eng., received the 2012 President's Volunteer Service Award from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) on December 13, 2012. This distinction is awarded every year to an engineer who demonstrates outstanding social commitment toward his or her profession.

A resident of Trois-Rivières, Ms. Audy, Eng., uses her expertise and dedication to serve the profession at the regional, provincial and national levels. After acting as President of the Mauricie Regional Section of the OIQ from 1990 to 1992, she made the jump to the provincial level as director delegate for the Mauricie region on the OIQ's Board of Directors from 1993 to 2002. In addition to her director role, she has acted as Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Vice President of Professional Affairs and Vice President. She has also actively contributed to the work of a large number of committees.

At the national level, Engineers Canada, which includes the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec as one of its 12 constituent provincial and territorial associations that govern the practice of engineering in Canada, enlisted the aid of Ms. Audy, Eng., in the activities of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). She sat on the CEAB for two years and participated as Vice Chair of Visits in engineering program evaluation visits to several Canadian universities.

The award recipient was employed by Hydro-Québec for her entire career and held a number of positions at the Gentilly-2 nuclear power plant in Bécancour.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am happy today to honour the constant commitment and outstanding contribution of our fellow engineer to the OIQ. Her flawless professionalism and her technical expertise make her an example for her peers and we are privileged that she has chosen to show such rigour and generosity in her commitment to further the entire profession," stated Daniel Lebel, Eng., President of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, when presenting Ms. Audy, Eng., with a work of art and a honorary plaque.

The 2012 President's Volunteer Service Award was presented during the holiday reception honouring the OIQ's volunteers, which was held on Thursday, December 13 in Montreal and attended by more than 140 guests.
