TORONTO, May 27, 2019 /CNW/ - On May 15, 2019, a Hearing Panel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) accepted a Settlement Agreement, with sanctions, between IIROC staff and Christopher John Everest.
The former Chief Financial Officer of the now defunct Octagon Capital Corporation admitted he failed to ensure the Risk Adjusted Capital and financial circumstances of the company were accurately reported – contrary to IIROC Rule 38.6(c).
Pursuant to the Settlement Agreement, Mr. Everest agreed to the following penalty:

Fine of $10,000; and |
(b) |
Permanent ban from registration with IIROC. |

IIROC formally initiated the investigation into Mr. Everest's conduct in February 2016. The conduct occurred while he was a Registered Representative with the Toronto branch of Octagon Capital Corporation. As of 2015, Octagon Capital Corporation is no longer an IIROC-regulated firm. Mr. Everest is not currently a registrant with an IIROC-regulated firm.
