They have toured the franchises across Québec to take the pulse of Énergie Cardio's customers and learn more about their needs and expectations.
Énergie Cardio, Québec's largest franchise chain of fitness centres, with modern, high-quality facilities employing nearly 1,000 people, is pumped up about the action plan it is announcing today. That plan comprises a host of innovative activities.
Énergie Cardio's goal is to meet consumers' changing fitness needs. Consumers are asking for more flexible class schedules and new individualized training concepts.
Virtual group classes – An immersive experience, without any compromise
Énergie Cardio's attractive selection of group classes is being enhanced by the introduction of new options. In addition to instructor-led classes, virtual group classes in rooms equipped with giant screens and sound systems to provide a unique immersive experience will be offered.
"We are very excited about this new service, which lets our members take group classes at any time, either with an instructor or with our new virtual format," said Ms. Tremblay and Ms. Canape. "People can come to a participating Énergie Cardio centre at any hour and take one of the group classes that are so popular with our customers. They are available more than 100 hours per week, a ground-breaking move for Énergie Cardio that sets us apart."
When there are no scheduled classes with an instructor, a member can select the desired type of virtual class, and other members can join as they arrive, without having to stick to any prescribed timetable. The new service starts up in June and will be rolled out to many Énergie Cardio centres in the coming weeks. There will be something for everyone, ranging from yoga to aerobics with Josée Lavigueur to Boot Camp.
NEW: Private training for two to increase motivation!
New owners Claire Tremblay, a kinesiologist and owner of several Énergie Cardio centres, and Eveline Canape, a physical educator who has been a director of operations at fitness chains, are also addressing the challenge of motivation, a key factor for clients.
"We have found that motivation is what keeps people from quitting and the key factor is support," they explain. "Our members already appreciate the benefits of having a qualified, certified personal trainer. Now we are adding another personal dimension: with private training for 2, a member can be accompanied by their spouse, a friend or colleague. That option has proved very popular since we began phasing it in during the month of April."
Ambitious action plan
"We are reinvigorating Énergie Cardio with the virtual group classes and personal training for 2," said Ms. Tremblay and Ms. Canape. "Quebecers have told us they need flexibility in order to be able to fit the gym into their busy schedule and support in order to maintain their motivation. That's what we're delivering!"
These initiatives are accompanied by a drive to recruit new franchisees, which is progressing well. Over the last two years, the Énergie Cardio network has also invested a total of more than $5 million recently to expand or renovate some of its centres. Eager to offer a high quality experience to their customers, franchisees do not hesitate to invest. Sorel and Terrebonne centres are currently undergoing expansion renovations that will allow them to offer cross-training sections and group training rooms with visual and audio mood creators and state-of-the-art equipment. Other initiatives will be announced in the course of the year.
In keeping with its mission of making Quebecers get up and move, Énergie Cardio has also introduced the Bouge avec Énergie Cardio program, which will let 3,000 teens aged 15 to 17 train at no cost between June 26 and August 31, 2017. You can subscribe online until June 26.
As well, Énergie Cardio has just completed the 2017 edition of the Défi Cardio 25 heures, a benefit for the Fonds Josée Lavigueur launched with Opération Enfant Soleil in 2006. The proceeds are used to help prevent illness and obesity among kids through physical activity and to support access to fitness for children with disabilities. More than 1,350 members contributed, raising a total of $454,000.
Advertising campaign goes against the tide
In March 2017, in conjunction with its open house, Énergie Cardio launched a large-scale advertising campaign highlighting emotional factors (motivation, determination, zenitude) in pastel tones, a messaging that runs counter to the traditional codes used in the industry.
In recent years, Énergie Cardio has been boosted by its connection with spokesperson and well-known physical educator Josée Lavigueur, and with Isabelle Huot, Ph.D. in nutrition and ambassador for the Kilo Cardio weight loss program, developed exclusively with Énergie Cardio.
