Enactus World Cup 2016 comes to Toronto, 28-30 September

TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - A select group of 3,500 student, academic and business leaders from around the world will gather at the 2016 Enactus World Cup from 28 to 30 September at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Students' entrepreneurial projects that transform lives to create a better world are the focus of the event for an audience of business and academic leaders, media and invited guests. This year's Enactus World Cup can be viewed live at http://www.enactus.org/worldcup.

"Showcasing the positive impact that Enactus students make for people and for the planet is the core of the World Cup," states Enactus' incoming president and chief executive officer, Rachael Jarosh.  "Enactus believes that competition fosters innovation and drives measurable results," Jarosh adds, stating, "and equally important, the World Cup enables collaboration among student, business and academic leaders and celebrates the remarkable impact of the world's future leaders."

"The passion, energy and enthusiasm of the students participating in Enactus World Cup is infectious," states Shaun Kelly, Global Chief Operating Officer, KPMG International and Secretary/Treasurer on the Enactus Worldwide Board. "Participants get a fresh perspective from different cultures, backgrounds and projects which creates ideas that are truly inspiring. KPMG is proud to continue our partnership as the presenting sponsor of Enactus World Cup."

Student teams who are presenting at Enactus World Cup are narrowed down from 69,000 university students to the National Champion teams from 36 countries. Each team presents for 17 minutes to demonstrate how their entrepreneurial business projects provide a sustainable social impact. Enactus has been showcasing projects of business innovation for positive impact since 1975. Last year, Enactus students volunteered more than 7 million service hours, creating and implementing 4,100 projects that directly impacted more than 1,177,000 lives. These experiences not only transform the lives of the people the projects serve, but also help the students develop the kind of talent and perspective essential to leadership that sees challenges to people and planet as opportunities to improve the world.

The Enactus World Cup is held annually in select cities throughout the world. Toronto was selected as the host city for 2016, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Enactus Canada.

Enactus is an international organization dedicated to inspiring students to improve the world through entrepreneurial action. Guided by educators and supported by business leaders, participating students form teams on their campuses to create and implement community projects that put people's own ingenuity and talents at the center of improving their livelihoods. The experience transforms both the lives of the people the projects serve, and in turn, the lives of Enactus students as they develop into more effective, values-driven leaders. Founded in 1975, today Enactus has more than 69,000 student participants on over 1,700 campuses in 36 countries. For more information visit www.enactus.org.
