Collaboration combines Emobi's JustPlug™ technology with DIMO's session infrastructure platform to bring secure, seamless charging to fleets for the first time
SAN FRANCISCO, April 1, 2026 /CNW/ -- Emobi, North America's largest EV charging roaming and JustPlug infrastructure, today announced a partnership with DIMO, the access layer for shared vehicle infrastructure, provisioning identity, keys, and payments scoped to every session. The collaboration launched the first fleet-ready device to enable secure Plug & Charge using Emobi's JustPlug™ solution, built on ISO 15118 standards. Unlike existing Plug & Charge implementations that rely on automaker-issued certificates, this solution enables ISO 15118 digital certificates that are provided directly to vehicles through DIMO's physical or virtual device, allowing any fleet or driver, with any vehicle, to independently enable Plug & Charge.
Fleets connect using DIMO's aftermarket device suite or virtual onboarding to OEM data, enabling advanced vehicle intelligence without costly upgrades. That same device or cloud now securely hosts the EV's digital charging identity, serving as the bridge for Plug & Charge without requiring any changes to the vehicle. By integrating Emobi's JustPlug™ technology into the DIMO platform, the partnership brings this same simplicity to EV charging. JustPlug issues and manages an ISO 15118 digital certificate at the fleet level via DIMO's device, eliminating the need for automaker involvement, firmware updates, or charging hardware upgrades.
This removes a major barrier to Plug & Charge adoption and enables seamless, automated charging across both modern and legacy infrastructure. Plug & Charge has long promised app-free charging but has remained limited due to the cost and complexity of automaker- and network-led implementations. By shifting enablement to the fleet, JustPlug allows any driver in any vehicle to independently activate secure, standards-based charging, finally delivering the universal experience fleets and drivers have been waiting for.
As Transportation Network Company (TnC) drivers or someone who simply wants to add Emobi's solution to their vehicle, DIMO offers a device with a mobile application, enabling the plug and charge for all drivers.
"This partnership represents a major milestone for EV adoption," said Lin Sun Fa, CEO of Emobi. "Electric vehicles have been promised a seamless Plug & Charge experience for years, but have had to keep waiting as the industry struggled to deliver it at scale. Issuing ISO 15118 digital certificates directly to fleets through DIMO's device puts control where it belongs, and unlocks Plug & Charge functionality for any car today."
"Plug & Charge is just the beginning. Once a vehicle has a session identity through DIMO, you can layer on tolling, parking, insurance, and connected services that activate per trip and shut off at return," said Yevgeny Khessin, Co-founder of DIMO. "Emobi is the first partner to ship on this infrastructure, and charging is the perfect place to start."
The companies share a common goal: simplifying fleet electrification and building trust in the charging ecosystem at scale. By enabling Plug & Charge at the individual fleet level for the first time and pairing Emobi's industry-leading access and security with DIMO's fleet intelligence session layer, the partnership demonstrates what becomes possible when vehicle identity and access management are built on open, shared infrastructure rather than siloed vendor systems.

About DIMO
DIMO is the access layer for the shared vehicle economy. With one integration, fleet operators, rental platforms, and mobility providers can provision vehicle identity, digital keys, payments, and connected services--all scoped to a session and revoked at return. DIMO's open protocol replaces the patchwork of closed, vendor-specific systems that today require 3–5 integrations per vehicle program. Already deployed across thousands of connected vehicles with 30+ OEM integrations, DIMO is backed by a decentralized network and governed by its community. For more information, visit www.dimo.org.
