Elmer's® Introduces First School Glue Stick Made from Natural Ingredients

Eco-conscious parents and teachers embraced Earth Friendly School Glue

TORONTO, April 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Elmer's® Products Canada, Corp., makers of Canada's favourite school glue, today launched the Elmer's® Earth Friendly School Glue™ Stick— the first and only school glue stick made with naturally occurring ingredients and available in recycled packaging. Children, teachers and parents can get a hands-on sneak peak of Elmer's® Earth Friendly School Glue™ Stick at the Green Living Show in Toronto, April 12-14, where crafts and free samples will be available at the Elmer's booth (#237).

"Some people find glue sticks easier to use and we had a number of requests for an Earth Friendly School Stick after the successful launch of our pourable Earth Friendly Glue last year," said Alicia Buter, senior product manager for Elmer's Canada. "While our traditional white school glue continues to be popular, we're proud to fill this niche need in the marketplace with the first and only natural, earth-friendly adhesive for school use. Elmer's Earth Friendly School Glue Stick formula consists of more than 88 per cent natural ingredients. The primary ingredient in this particular adhesive is corn starch. The sticks are made of 25 per cent post-industrial recycled plastic. The labels are printed with soy ink on FSC-certified paper and the card is made from 100 per cent recycled paper board

Elmer's Earth Friendly School Glue is just as strong, safe, non-toxic and washable as Elmer's traditional School Glue and can be used for any project for which Elmer's School Glue would normally be used. Further, empty Elmer's School Glue bottles - both natural and traditional - can be recycled at home by consumers.

Elmer's Earth Friendly School Glue comes in a single-120mL pourable bottle, single-40g glue stick, 20g glue sticks sold in a two-pack, and an 8g glue stick in a 30-pack case. Suggested pricing for the pourable glue is $1.59 and $2.49 for the 40g and two-pack 20g glue sticks. The 30-pack of glue sticks retails for $15.99 for educators. Elmer's Earth Friendly School Glue pourable is currently available nationwide in Walmart and Staples stores.  The Earth Friendly Glue Sticks will be available beginning May 2013 -- in time for Back-to-School at a number of retail banners across Canada.
