Éliane Orléans-Gerstein, Certified Interpreter, is made Honorary Member of
OTTIAQ

MONTREAL, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) has awarded Éliane Orléans-Gerstein, C.Int., with the title of Honorary Member.

A founding member of Intersection, a group of conference interpreters within the Société des traducteurs du Québec (later to become OTTIAQ), Ms. Orléans-Gerstein actively supported the association as it developed. She helped to draft the first admission examination for interpreters and publish a special issue of Meta devoted to conference interpretation. In addition to her duties on various committees and task forces, Ms. Orléans-Gerstein sat on OTTIAQ's board of directors from 2006 to 2009 and has been a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters since 1960.

Everyone who has heard, through the voice of Ms. Orléans-Gerstein, public figures such as Pope Jean-Paul II, Mother Teresa, Adenauer and François Mitterand, concurs that she is an interpreter of prodigious talent. Furthermore, as an instructor at Université de Montréal and as a mentor, she has been an important force in training upcoming generations throughout her career.

As OTTIAQ president François Abraham, C. Tr., affirmed, "Madame Orléans-Gerstein is without any doubt a leader in her field, both in Canada and abroad."
