Dreaming of a New Car? Volvo Brings "Build Your Own" Ability to Participants at Upcoming Canadian Auto Shows Français
New app in Volvo show booths allows prospective car buyers to easily customize new cars
MONTREAL, Jan. 21, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Car enthusiasts will not only be able to preview the new 2013 Volvo models at this year's auto shows, but will be able to build and customize their own vehicle with an interactive application.
Developed by Montreal mobile application development studio, WhereCloud, the Volvo show booth app uses interactive touch technology to allow people to virtually transform the 2013 Volvo models on display. Using the interactive tablets provided, participants can choose from a wide range of design options with a swipe of their finger, from trim levels, colours and wheels right down to upholstery and navigation. The app will then produce detailed images of their ideal car as well as pricing.
"'Build your own car' systems typically found online can be confusing and slow. Touchscreens can provide a far more intuitive, engaging experience for users, especially given that the car models they're customizing are right in front of them. They can try out car design options as they view pricing details in a transparent and straightforward way," said Martin Dufort, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of WhereCloud. "This app adds to the immersive experience of the Volvo brand, which is an aspect we strive for with all our clients."
"WhereCloud has played a key role in helping us add a new dimension to the traditional auto show booth experience," said Brad Painter, VP of Marketing at Volvo Canada. "Our customers want a car that reflects their specific needs and personalities, and we wanted to be able to give them that customization experience in an innovative and accessible way. WhereCloud has accomplished that for us."
The app is built in part on proprietary technology developed by WhereCloud through the company's work in sectors such as retail, health and travel. It will be deployed in Volvo show booths at upcoming auto shows in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
