OHSWEKEN, ON, Oct. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is proud to be in its ninth full year of operation. For almost a decade, the Foundation has been able to provide resources to First Nations communities all across Canada. Through funding sectors like Sports and Recreation, Arts and Culture, Health and Education, we have not only provided opportunities to our Aboriginal youth but also to adults in order for them to receive the proper care and assistance they deserve and to achieve dreams they would otherwise not be able to realize.
"Each year the Gala is a big success and plays an important role for us, raising money for all the great causes of the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation", says Sara Awdish, Dreamcatchers Executive Director. "This will definitely be a year to remember with the entertainers and celebrities who will be in attendance."
Known over the years for bringing together well-known performers, movie and television stars, celebrities and sponsors - and anyone else who wants to show support for the Foundation - the Gala will be held at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's, in Hamilton, Ontario on October 24th, 2013. The evening begins at 5:30pm with the reception. The night is hosted by Lorne Cardinal and Michelle Thrush, will feature performances by Shawn McQuiller from Kool and the Gang and others to be announced in the coming weeks. And as at every Gala, celebrities will add some sparkle of their own, including Ludacris (singer, rapper, actor) as a guest of honour and presenter, plus Adam Beach, Susan Aglukark, Sass Jordan, Andrea Menard, Bronson Pelletier, Emmanuel Lewis, Gil Birmingham, Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas and many more!
"I love being a part of the Gala, and if my being present helps raise
awareness of this incredible 'go-to' fund for the development of our
youth, I will continue to be there.
Nothing could be more important than our youth." - Andrea Menard
This year we will once again be honouring six worthy individuals with our Dreamcatcher Awards for their outstanding contributions in their fields of endeavour: Wes Studi (Arts and Culture), Jesse Smith (Sports), Suzie Miller (Education), Dr. Greg Frazer (Health) and the two Dreamcatcher Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented to Stan Jonathan and one in honour of Jay Silverheels.
The Dreamcatcher Foundation is a registered charitable foundation providing support to the Aboriginal community through grants to individuals with a goal of developing youth as future leaders. We are growing more and more each year. In our first year of operation we were based solely in Ontario and not yet a registered charity. The Foundation also provides grants to community projects that have a lasting and positive impact on their members.
