CANMORE, AB, Feb. 9, 2018 /CNW/ - Dr. Paul Lubitz, founder and medical director of Art of SKIN Dermatology, Laser and Cosmetic Surgery clinic, is proud to announce that the clinic now offers two new options for body sculpting and reduction of unwanted body fat in addition to the currently offered Tumescent Liposuction. The two new treatments include: SculpSure®, which is the non-surgical removal of fat by laser, with skin tightening; and BELKYRA™, which is the non-surgical removal of fat by simple injection. Tumescent Liposuction, which Dr. Lubitz has been offering for 15 years, involves the surgical removal of fat, done completely with local anesthesia.
"These procedures are the newest additions to Art of SKIN's service offerings," Dr. Paul Lubitz explained. "Currently, we are the only facility in Alberta that offers all three of these procedures."
Tumescent Liposuction involves the injection of dilute lidocaine and epinephrine into subcutaneous fat; this produces long-lasting local anesthetization, with minimal bleeding during the surgery. Tumescent Liposuction with microcannulas is less painful for the patient, produces better, more even results, is safer and allows the patient to recover more quickly after the procedure as compared to traditional liposuction with general anesthesia and large cannulas (surgical instruments to remove the fat).
SculpSure® is a body-contouring technology that targets and eliminates fat cells without affecting the surface of a patient's skin. SculpSure® involves a light-based technology that can safely remove up to 24 percent of fat in the treated area with a single treatment, and up to approximately 80% of fat removed after 4 treatments. The treated fat cells are naturally absorbed and removed from the body, with best results seen within 6 to 12 weeks following an individual treatment.
BELKYRA™, meanwhile, is an injectable, synthetic form of deoxycholic acid - a substance that occurs naturally in the human body - and can be used to eliminate double chins and redefine jawlines. When BELKYRA™ is injected, it destroys fat cell membranes, and the fat cells are then eliminated from the body naturally.
Dr. Paul Lubitz received his M.D. from Queen's University in 1996, graduating with distinction. Following his formal residency training in dermatology, Dr. Lubitz received additional training in advanced cosmetic surgery and laser procedures at multiple training centres in Canada and in the United States.
After moving to Canmore in 2010, Dr. Lubitz opened Art of Skin in 2014.
