VICTORIA, Aug. 13 /CNW/ - Dr. C. Ross Crapo is out to change lives by putting smiles on people's faces through free emergency dental services to those who need it on September 11, 2010, as he hosts the latest event for Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH).
The media is invited to join Dr. Crapo and his team of dentists and volunteers to help 100 people in need of dental work - treating urgent care patients in need of fillings, extractions and, X-Rays. This practice pioneered Free Oral Cancer Day in Victoria, and this is the very first Dentistry from the Heart dental charity event in B.C.
Dentistry From The Heart is a national non-profit organization with a simple mission - making people smile. Founded in 2001 by a Dr. Vincent Monticciolo in New Port Richey, Florida, DFTH was created to aid those in need, including the growing population of under-insured individuals. Over one third of adults lack dental insurance and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. Without events like DFTH, dental care simply isn't an option for many of the uninsured. To date, DFTH has helped more than 25,000 patients and provided over $5.5 million in dental care.
"Now more than ever, I know people out there need our services, but may have no means to afford them - whether they're out of a job, or just don't have dental insurance. Dentistry from the Heart is our way of giving back to the community, and helping people who are in urgent need of dental work," said Dr. Crapo.
The event will take place on Sept. 11th starting at 8:30 AM at 206-4400 Chatterton Way, Victoria. Dr. Crapo and his volunteers will treat the first 100 patients, or however many they can service by 5:00 PM. To reserve your place call the Free Dentistry Hotline at 1-800-973-4570.
