$750,000 Invested in Exciting Group of Canadian Businesses
CALGARY, June 21, 2019 /CNW/ - District Ventures Accelerator announced today the graduation of its seventh cohort.
The cohort includes five innovative companies in the consumer goods food and health space which were selected from 100 applicants from across Canada. The companies were chosen based on their product, sales and market potential and have each received a $150,000 investment from District Ventures Capital in exchange for a minority equity stake in their company.
"Food and health are two categories which impact our everyday lives," said Arlene Dickinson, General Partner, District Ventures Capital. "Consumers are looking for variety and healthy innovation in this space and we're excited to partner with businesses who are providing that and more. We look forward to taking our next steps alongside these determined entrepreneurs."
Each company receives access to District Ventures Accelerator's five-month program which connects the founders to business, mentorship and marketing support along with brokers, distributors and retailers to help them grow to national and international levels.
The program formally concludes on June 26 with Demo Day, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the entrepreneurs to pitch their businesses to industry heavyweights in the retail, investment and distribution sectors.
