First deployment of LIVE+ Multipoint video distribution network in Summer Games simplifies
access to high-quality live-streamed video for Canadian broadcasters
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL, Aug 8, 2016 /CNW/ - Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that simplify the transport of live video and real-time data across remote or mobile IP networks, today announced it is supporting Canadian broadcasters, as well as many international broadcasters at the Summer Games in Rio by deploying private Wi-Fi hotspots in key locations, Anatel-certified mobile transmitters with local SIM modules and by offering onsite support 24-hours a day for the duration of the Games.
This event marks the first time that the Dejero LIVE+ Multipoint video distribution network will be used at the Games, enabling the distribution of high-quality live streams from a source location to multiple broadcasters simultaneously. LIVE+ Multipoint can also be used to exchange recorded content between studios.
"Dejero's professional video over IP distribution network is a cloud-based solution which gives broadcasters the ability to share acquisition resources and crews for broader coverage," explained Bogdan Frusina, founder and chief technology officer of Dejero. "It gives broadcasters the ability to flip and switch between a variety of content feeds, all accessible over the top (OTT) and to immediately incorporate any desired content into their own local reporting. Canadian and major international broadcasters are using Dejero technology in Rio, including Bell Media, Rogers and the Game's official broadcaster, CBC, so we are proud to be playing a part in bringing the Olympics to Canadian viewers."
In advance of the event, Dejero also worked with Anatel, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency, to achieve certification for its mobile IP-video transmitters so that crews travelling from around the world will be able to use them for their live and recorded coverage.
Dejero has a long history of involvement with large-scale international events, starting with its key role in supporting CTV's continuous coverage of the 45,000km long 2010 Vancouver Winter Games Torch Relay across Canada.
Two years later, Dejero provided a long-range, private Wi-Fi network for coverage in and around London's Olympic Park, as well as private hotspots at Carnaby Street and the Houses of Parliament.
In 2014 in Sochi, broadcasters were able to go live using exclusive Dejero Wi-Fi hotspots at the Sochi Olympic Park and in the mountain cluster. Field news reporters could encode and transmit HD video directly over 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections from locations that are impractical for traditional ENG vehicles to access. In addition, the networks' master control personnel used Dejero's cloud-based management system to manage and control transmitters, monitor transmission health, and manage the distribution of content on-air and online.
Dejero has also recently provided equipment and support to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, 2016 Republican National Convention and the 2016 Euro Cup Finals.
