Darlene Bryans of McDonald's Oakville to receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Darlene Bryans of McDonald's Oakville will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 12, 2013 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
For the past 14 years, Oakville Fire Department has hosted a special event at its training campus during Fire Prevention Week, where community residents can meet the firefighters, view the equipment and participate in a host of fire safety learning activities.
Owner Darlene Bryans, who operates five McDonald's Restaurant locations in Oakville, provides food for the event, as well as some of her employees to serve it. During the event, she and her staff prepare and distribute lunches to more than 3,000 visitors. Bryans also advertises the event each year in her five Oakville restaurant locations through tray liners, posters and invitations to customers.
"Thanks to the generous support of Darlene Bryans, Oakville Fire Department is able to focus its efforts on delivering its important messages about public fire safety," said Ted Wieclawek, Ontario Fire Marshal and Chair, Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council.
The Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council gratefully acknowledges the support of its sponsors in this event: Technical Standards and Safety Authority, The Co-operators Group, Kidde Canada Inc., Home Depot of Canada Inc., Proctor & Gamble Inc., Electrical Safety Authority, CSA Group, Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc., Roxul Inc. and Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada.
