Two awards, one purpose: helping good people do great work
TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2026 /CNW/ -- Curious Public is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded two prestigious 2026 Silver Leaf Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Canada for its client work in media strategy and communication management. The Curious Public team is particularly proud that both awards recognize organizations doing incredible work with children and young people in Toronto.
"We're deeply honoured to receive this peer recognition from our industry. Even more importantly, we are pleased that it elevates organizations making a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadian children and young people," said Lloyd Rang, Curious Public CEO and Chief Strategist. "Communications can help good people do great work that reaches further, builds stronger connections and advances causes that matter. These awards recognize the missions of our clients and partners, and we're proud to play a small part in the impact they make every day."
This year, IABC received 71 entries and 23 recipients were honoured -- including 20 Awards of Merit and three Awards of Excellence. The awards celebrate the innovation, creativity and impact of communications work across Canada, setting the highest standards for the industry.
After the region experienced exceptional heavy rain, Ernestine's Women's Shelter in Etobicoke sustained significant flooding and had to shut down its children's programming room. As part of its pro bono initiatives, Curious Public, led by Anne Marie Aikins (Executive Lead, Public and Media Relations, Crisis Management) created a Flood Recovery Media Strategy to help raise funds to do the repairs and reopen the service. The strategy was an overwhelming success with 1.5 million media impressions and raised more than enough funds to do the repairs. IABC recognized the work of Anne Marie, along with team members Shannon Currie (Account Director, Strategy and Communications) and Emma Earley (Senior Strategist, Digital Marketing and Communications) with an Award of Excellence.
Curious Public also entered its TFS – Canada's International School (TFS) "Can't Wait!" Capital Campaign Brand Identity and Launch Rollout, which is helping to raise $40M in capital funding for the school. The campaign, led by Lloyd Rang with Account Director Shannon Currie and Matthew Aubie (Creative Director with Aubs & Mugg) was recognized as an Award of Merit winner in communication management, marketing, advertising and brand communication.
Both awards reflect Curious Public's "dedication and outstanding work in the field of strategic communication," said IABC.
"Every year, the Silver Leaf Awards remind us how much talent there is in Canada's communication community," said Nekolina Lau, SCMP, IABC Canada West Region Chair. "The 2026 winners show what strategy, storytelling and creativity can accomplish when they are applied with purpose. It is a privilege to celebrate their work and the difference it makes for their organizations and communities."
