TORONTO, Jan. 9, 2014 /CNW/ - The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is set to come into effect in the US in July of 2014 and is effectively a form of capital controls that will extremely limit the ability of Americans to internationalize their assets.
For this reason, TDV Wealth Management, a subsidiary of TDV Media, has urgently organized the TDV Wealth Management Crisis Conference - the first of its kind to be held from February 5-9 in Panama.
The conference won't entirely focus on lectures and speeches, but instead direct action. Attendees will enjoy personalized consultations while they are at the conference, which will be hosted in the "tax-enhanced" jurisdiction of Panama.
Already US citizens with money or assets outside of the US are supposed to file a FBAR and a Form 8389. Failure to file is punishable by law. If you don't have any assets or money outside of the US, FATCA is coming into effect in July, 2014 and will all but make it nearly impossible to expatriate your assets.
FATCA will require foreign banks to report to the IRS all of their US account holders or pay a 30% withholding tax on all transactions going through the US.
Foreign financial institutions are already entering into agreements with the IRS or restructuring their businesses to stop serving US customers altogether.
"We were overwhelmed with the amount of individuals asking us how to protect themselves against a rapidly changing financial environment, particularly with FATCA soon coming into effect," said Jeff Berwick, CEO of TDV Media, who will host the conference.
"And much of our work helping to consult and move forward on initiatives is very intense usually requiring that our experts travel to where our clients are for a day or more. Given the demand we have decided to hold an all-inclusive, exclusive event in a nice tropical location to bring everyone together to help alleviate so much of the concern people have shown to us and get them started in the right direction to protect their assets."
TDV Wealth Management Crisis Conference is designed to provide relief for individuals concerned about their financial future. Hundreds of years of experience in asset protection will be brought together under one roof, and attendees will learn how to internationalize their assets in legal structures that will be FATCA proof… before it is too late.
The Crisis Conference will be held in Panama from February 5-9, at the JW Marriot Panama Resort. The JW Marriot Hotel is situated in the resort community of Buenaventura on the pacific coast of Panama an hour and a half drive from Panama City.
