Fully programmable OpenFlow data planes now available with 10G, 40G and 100G SDN BGP Routing pipelines
OTTAWA, Oct. 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Software Defined Networking data plane company Corsa Technology, the leader in pure SDN hardware data planes, announced today a programmable SDN BGP routing pipeline, the latest in their series of SDN OpenFlow pipelines. Programmable into either the DP6420, 48 x 10G + 4 x 40G data plane or the DP6440, 4 x 100G + 24 x 10G data plane, the SDN BGP pipeline allows full delegation of policy decisions to the orchestration layer to achieve software driven fine-grained control of the network.
This announcement marks a point in time where SDN data plane pipelines have the capacity and speed to implement some of the largest BGP routers that connect the core fabric of the Internet. Up until now, single table pipelines or limited multi-table implementations of OpenFlow data planes have meant full scale orchestration of networks could only be achieved with limited success. Corsa has successfully designed massive FIB table capacity into a highly efficient, multi-table pipeline which allows the separate control plane to implement a SDN BGP Router. This allows network orchestration to dynamically adjust or adapt forwarding for any number of purposes such as for SLA compliance, real-time load balancing, peering arrangements or time of day.
Corsa's SDN data planes support over a million flows and multiple flow tables to scale for any network application. At the core of the data plane is a completely reconfigurable OpenFlow datapath. The SDN BGP routing pipeline is just one configuration that takes advantage of the flexible table structures and flow capacity. The same hardware data plane can be programmed to take on any networking function, ranging from simple Layer 2 switching at massive scale, to complex Layer4- 7 aware steering gateways.
