Coolest last minute gift for Father's Day - iTunes gift download the all time
classic Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon rearranged on a jazz tip!

TORONTO, May 26 /CNW/ - One of the top selling albums of all time has taken on a Jazz perspective. All of the songs on Pink Floyd's classic album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON have been rearranged and performed live by Toronto big band NOJO in their original order. Just in time for Father's Day Tuesday, June 15, 2010 everyone around the world will be able to purchase in digital format only (via iTunes, Napster, eMusic, and other digital retailers) NOJO Explores The Dark Side of the Moon featuring 8 newly arranged tracks originally recorded by Pink Floyd.

From its JUNO winning debut in 1995, NOJO has been dedicated to performing original music exclusively and each of the bands 5 CDs has been critically acclaimed and JUNO nominated. 2009 marked the band's 15th anniversary, and co-leaders Paul Neufeld and Michael Occhipinti decided to do something different. With all the interest in the world of classic rock, and numerous cover bands, broadway musicals and rock productions trying to exactly replicate famous recordings, Neufeld and Occhipinti decided that they wanted to do something closer to the more rebellious spirit of the artists who created what is now called "classic" rock, and initiated a series of concerts where NOJO would perform a famous rock album, using original arrangements that both stayed true to the original material in spirit and yet took the music in new, often exploratory directions.

NOJO Explores The Dark Side of the Moon was recorded live at Toronto's Lula Lounge in February 2010. Paul Neufeld and Michael Occhipinti, the creators and composers of NOJO tried to take it in a lot of different directions, at times staying true to the lush, heavily arranged moments on Pink Floyd's original, at times playing off the blues elements in David Gilmour's guitar solos, and at times taking it into everything from free jazz to reggae (sides of the moon that Pink Floyd never went to). This digital album is a perfect gift for Jazz loving Dad's that want take a trip down memory lane to the days of their rocking youth.
