Contest Response Moves Blue Imp to Award Three Major Prizes Instead of Two
MEDICINE HAT, AB, June 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Blue Imp Recreational Products is pleased to announce the winners of their recently concluded "Wee Play Contest". A total of 106 schools, communities and child care centres from across Canada entered the contest to win one of two play systems valued at over $20,000. Winners were determined by the highest number of votes.
Blue Imp was so moved by the hard work of the contestants and the tremendous community support they received that the company decided to award three major prizes instead of two.
"We were excited to see the interest our promotion received from across the country," said Blue Imp executive Verna Scott. "The contest involved generating public support and our entrants did just that. The final count was so close that we felt we should award three prizes instead of two. This means another group will receive a play structure that meets their needs and will benefit the community for years to come."
Duke of Cambridge Public School in Bowmanville, Ontario, received almost 9,000 votes to win the Wee Move play structure. The community is thrilled that young students will have a structure to play on when their new school opens in fall. Manufactured by Blue Imp in Canada, the Wee Move prize features colourful slides and climbers designed to promote physical activity and social interaction for children aged 2 to 5.
Coming in a very close second with more than 8,700 votes was Wood Mountain Regional Park in southern Saskatchewan. Because the vote was so close and the effort so great, Blue Imp decided to award Wood Mountain a major prize. The Blue Imp play structure they will receive is well-suited to a park setting with climbing and sliding activities for ages 2-12.
Medstead Central School in Medstead, Saskatchewan garnered the third highest number of votes in the contest and was awarded the Poddely system. Poddely is a highly versatile large-scale loose-piece play system and is an effective learning resource for ages 2-12.
"The contest confirmed that there is a great need for play equipment across Canada," stated Scott. The number of entries and voter support demonstrated that communities are prepared to go to great lengths to provide children with the play equipment they deserve."
