Construction of a forest access road in Sections H West and I: COMEX announces a public hearing in Waswanipi Français

QUÉBEC CITY, Nov. 6, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Environmental and Social Impact Review Committee (COMEX) announces that it will hold a public hearing on the construction of a forest access road in Sections H West and I proposed by Matériaux Blanchet Inc., that represents the following companies: Scierie Landrienne, Tembec, Eacom Timber Corporation, Resolute Forest Products and Matériaux Blanchet inc. The purpose of the hearings is to allow citizens to learn about the project itself, the environmental impact assessment and review procedure, and COMEX's role. It also enables COMEX to receive opinions and comments on the project and documents submitted by the proponent to the Administrator of Section 22 of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement:

Interested groups or individuals are invited to submit written comments to the COMEX Secretariat prior to the public hearing and, if they wish, make a brief oral presentation of their comments during the consultations. However, it is not necessary to submit written comments in order to participate in the public hearings. THE PROPONENT'S PROJECT PROPOSAL
"Matériaux Blanchet Inc. expects to build a pair of major access roads over a total distance of approximately 126 km in the km 105 sector of Route de la Baie-James (Route 109) and Lake Quénonisca. These two forest roads are located on Category III lands."
