MONTREAL, March 10 /CNW Telbec/ - The Imperial Tobacco Canada Foundation today announced its 2010 donation programs, the core of which will offer six donations of $20,000 each to organizations in Montreal's South West area to fund innovative projects that will make a difference to the people who live in this community.
"We have been an active member of Montreal's southwest community for over 100 years and we are committed to maintaining this connection through meaningful donations to local organizations which enrich the life of this community," said John Clayton, vice president of corporate affairs of Imperial Tobacco Canada.
This year, six (6) donations of $20,000 each will be available for innovative programs or projects submitted by eligible not-for-profit organizations which meet the selection criteria and are located in and serve the Montreal South West community, including the South-West, Lachine, LaSalle and Verdun.
The Foundation will also continue with its highly-regarded Arts Achievement Award, which was launched in 2009.
The Arts Achievement Award of $75,000 is donated to a Canadian arts organization which has made a significant and exemplary contribution to its art form, to the public and to cultural life in Canada over a period of ten years. The Award is made through a nominations process on a rotational basis of art forms in each year. This year's category is the PERFORMING ARTS: DANCE. The recipient organization may use the Award as it sees fit.
The Imperial Tobacco Canada Foundation is a private charitable foundation funded solely by Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited and responsible for the company's community investment program.
