QUEBEC CITY, June 30, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Palais Montcalm was packed for the first edition of the Con forza concert, performed on June 30, 2014, before a warmly appreciative audience.
In the concert, which was staged by the well-known director Richard Petit, the Royal 22e Régiment Band paid moving homage to Quebec military personnel who have fought to defend justice and freedom. For more than two hours, the band captivated the hall with selections from various periods ranging from the First World War to today.
The audience was impressed by the variety of musical genres and the quality of the performances by guest artists Rémi Chassé from La Voix, Martin Levac from the Genesis tribute show and actor/singer Jason Roy-Léveillée. And, of course, the show would not have been complete without the invaluable participation of the Changing of the Guard Band, the Black Watch Pipes & Drums Band and the Eastern Region Cadet Elite Band.
"The first edition of Con forza is a great success, and we are very pleased to see such an enthusiastic reaction from the public in Quebec City," said Brigadier-General Stéphane Lafaut, Commander of 2nd Canadian Division.
The musical adventure will continue from July 1 to 3 with free outdoor concerts at Place de l'Hôtel de Ville (Tachereau monument), at Place Royale and on the Pierre Dugua de Mons Terrace, which overlooks the Dufferin Terrace near the eastern walls of the Citadel.
